At the start…
Catch up as normal, and then steer the focus towards The Word One to One. You might both be feeling a little nervous, which is okay! Remember, don’t feel like it’s all down to your ability – God will be speaking through His Word.
During…
Start by explaining that their job is generally to read the Bible sentences to themselves (or out loud if they’d like to, whatever feels most comfortable to them). Then explain that your job is to use the notes to guide the conversation. You’ll soon get into a rhythm of reading and chatting together verse by verse.
Tip
Remember, it’s okay if you don’t know all the answers to your friend’s questions – just make a note of them and offer to follow up afterwards!
At the end…
As you finish you can simply ask your friend
something like “Did you enjoy that? Would you like to see what happens next?”
