How to start sharing:

3. Follow up

Find out how to carry on the conversation after your first session.

Following up after your session

In this section, we’ll learn:

  • How to keep going

  • How to support the person you’re reading with

  • How to stay encouraged

If they want to keep reading…

Agree the next time and place you’ll meet. Pray for them and get ready for the next episode, and simply keep going at a pace that’s comfortable for them.

If they’d like to pause…

Don’t be discouraged if at any time your friend wants to stop meeting. Thank God for all you have shared, and ask Him to keep working in their hearts!

Once you’ve started, seeing what the Bible says about Jesus with others is a wonderful experience that you can enjoy for a lifetime!

Support them

Alongside sharing the Bible with your friend, think about other ways you can help them meet Jesus for themselves: for example, you could recommend helpful books, podcasts or videos to them.

Invite others to support you

One of the best ways to keep going with sharing the Bible is by getting others to support you along the way. Here’s how:

They can pray for you

They can ask God to give you courage, opportunities and perseverance.

They can encourage you

They can give you strength and support to carry on.

They can help you

They can help you be wise in who you read with, and how to help them connect with a local church as their interest grows.

“The Word One to One laid out a guiding framework for our conversation about the text – and I think the fact that there aren’t lots of direct questions made it less intense for my friend!”
