The Word One to One launches John Part 1 in German

Lizzie Jelfs shares more about the latest translation of The Word One to One.

The words of our Saviour Christ are exceeding powerful; they have hands and feet.
— Martin Luther

This week, with Luther's words as true as ever, we're excited to be launching the first part of The Word One to One John in German (Episodes 1–10, covering John 1–4).

'Das Wort: Gemeinsam Lesen' is the fruit of a partnership between the Stiftung Missionswerk Werner Heukelbach and The Word One to One. Heukelbach works across Germany, Austria and Switzerland to reach people in their everyday lives with the gospel, helping people take a step closer to Jesus.

'Das Wort' is available on our free app, as printed books and online PDFs. Over the course of 2025, we'll be releasing new episodes every few months, aiming to have the complete read-through of John's Gospel available in German by early 2026.

Our prayer is that this resource will give confidence to many German-speaking Christians to see the power of God's Word—its hands and feet—in the lives of non-Christians they know, and that in turn many of those will come to know Jesus for themselves.

How can you be involved?

  • Please join us in praying that what we're launching today will be widely used and that the word would 'speed ahead and be honoured' (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

  • Pray that many church leaders will find 'Das Wort: Gemeinsam Lesen' a helpful complement to what they're already doing to reach out with the gospel.

  • If you have German-speaking friends or contacts who could use this, forward the links and let us know how you get on!
